LM53600 TVS Diode

Hello,

We have a 12V or 24V automotive system and are looking to protect it against load dumps and reverse polarity, using a simple rectifying diode and TVS clamp:

1.  Do you think this setup will suffice for protection?

2.  What is the minimum breakdown voltage we should look for in a TVS?

3.  What should the TVS maximum clamping voltage be in order to best protect the LM53600?

Thanks,

Tony

  • Load dump is depend on OEM specification, normally it is 36V for 12V automotive system
LM53600 withstand voltage of 42V hence TVS for load dump is not required but for other transients and ESD TVS is required so i would suggest to have TVS with standoff voltage higher than 38V for 12V automotive system
