TPS65381 power dissipation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65381-Q1

Our customer is asking how he calculate TPS65381 power dissipation. Although I have checked in the datasheet, I can only see VDD6 efficiecny data. Would somebody help us how we calculate the power dissipation. I would pretty appreciate if you share the calculator.

best regards,

T.Imi

  • Hi Imi-san,

The rest of TPS65381-Q1 is linear regulators so power calculation is really simple (VIN - VOUT) * Current = Power.  Attached is a draft calculator we are working on though that will make this much easier for you and your customer.  Keep in mind this is draft status and not fully reviewed but it should help.  The Excel cells for customer input are yellow background with light blue font.

The sheet will provide the power estimate output for the total power in the TPS65381-Q1, the inductor, external diode for VDD6 and external FET for VDD1 LDO controller.  These are highlighted in cells with green background.  Intermediate power values for each regulator are included but not highlighted in anyway.

  • Hi Scott-san,

Thank you very much for sharing the calculator with us. I understood how the power dissipation calculates.
