Questions about afe0064

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE0064, AFE1256, DDC232

hi, I have read the datasheet about afe0064,because I want use it for the detection of the X-ray.But I have some questions about it.

First, the datasheet says that I can read the data during reseting. But from the picture below,I think it is not possible.Because if I reset the afe0064 the charge on C1 will change. How can I read the right data? C1 can not hold the charge during reseting.

  • Dear user3918960,

Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments.  Please reference page and/or section in the datasheet.  Which "picture below" are you referring too?

  • Thank you for your reply. The picture is Figure 1 on page eight of the datasheet. The C1 is the capacitance behind the integrator.I also wonder when the SHS switch closes? It seems that the datasheet do not tell us that.Besides ,whether you have the Test Board of afe0064?

  • We do not provide a EVM for AFE0064. SHS is control input from the user, the datasheet recommends when to assert this signal with respect to the others needed.

The figure 1 is a simplified drawing and not complete.  You can read data during reset, as recommended, and so long as you follow the timing requirements specified in the datasheet, you'll see the analog output correctly. You'll see the results of the previously completed t-scan.

  • Thank you for your response. The datasheet says "Device samples 'signal' level of integrator output(0 to 63) onto the respective CDS on rising edgeof SHS signal." Is the switch which Marked in the blow picture  controled by SHS signal? If not, when does the switch open? When does the switch close?

  • Hi, Lijoy.

The datasheet says afe0064 is designed to suit the requirements of flat panel integration and data transfer for all 64 detector based digital X-ray systems. But if I use it for  the detection of continuous currents from photo-diodes, what should I must pay attention to ?

  • Like all our parts, the AFE0064 was designed with specifications given by our experienced customers.  So you can be assured the statements in the datasheet is true.  We won't be able to consult you on how to build the system.  Any questions on how to use the AFE0064, we're happy to answer.

BTW, if you are new to this application, you can try to use the AFE1256.  It solves more of the problem statement than the AFE0064.

What's your production date and annual volume?

  • We have used DDC232 for our products. For some reasons, we want to use afe0064 for our products. Now we just want to make sure whether it can be used . AFE1256 have too many input channels for our products. We just need 64 channels.Besides, Our products are about  X-Ray Inspection System. The current of Photo diode detector is

    Continuous.
