UCC2803-EP: Requirement of Surge protection in the Adapter 5V@2A

We are working on the adaptor 5V@2A based on UCC2803. We are using these adaptor for Europe and UK market.

We just want to know that if we are not putting the MOV on the board then will this cause any surge issue or not, As in india , we are providing surge level upto 2.5KV.

Hi Jasbeer,

You would need to consult with the safety agency as to what protection that needs to be added in your adapter to be qualified to meet 2KV voltage surge rating on the adapter.
UCC2803-EP is controller with its specs highlighted in the datasheet. Meeting safety agency requirements will be based upon external components used.
