ADS52J90EVM + TSW14J56EVM trigger operation

I have these 2 eval boards and have them working with the "High Speed Data Converter Pro GUI" software.  I would like to use an external trigger to capture data and write the data to a file.

The SLWU087C (revised July 2015) User's Guide describes how to use the external trigger.  But, once the external trigger happens you have to click on a GUI "Read DDR Memory" button to get the data into the software. Then you have to use the File menu to save the data to a file.

There is a continuous capture option, but it isn't at all clear if it will work with the external trigger option?

Is there a way to use the eval boards & software as a triggered data acquisition system?

    In the trigger menu of HSDCPro, you can choose the "arm on next capture button press".  This is probably the trigger you want.  Unfortunately, we have never enabled the ability to trigger and do continuous capture at the same time.  It is one or the other.  We are working on that feature.  However, included in the HSDCPro installer are tools to send commands, such as "Capture" to HSDCPro via Matlab or Labview.

    It will probably me another month at least before it is in the HSDCPro installer.  I will bring it up at the next meeting and try to get it pushed up.

    A month would be great. I'm sure other users of the ADS52J90 would find this feature useful as well. That is how we plan to use the part on our board. We would like to use that mode with the eval board while designing our board. If necessary we can use the Matlab/Labview interface you mention, but having the HSDCPro do it directly would be much cleaner and faster.

    The external trigger feature will not be added in the short term.

    Now I'm even more confused.  There is a Trigger input on the TSW14J56EVM; are you saying this input doesn't work?

    There is no issue with the trigger function or the continuous capture function, but there is still no progress on the triggering + continuous capture function. I have included the software team on this thread, so that they might update us on the progress and schedule of this function.
    They might be able to include this on the next release.
