TIDA-00817: TIDA-00817 stackable

HI

I would like to seek clarification.

I have a customer looking at using this reference to implement for a 300V battery pack targeted at an EV application.

It was stated that TIDA-00817 , modules can be stacked up to 1300V. Do you have a block diagram or another reference design which address this stacking feature?

What is the current that can be derived from stacking?

INg

  • Hi INg,
The stacking diagram is shown in figure 2 of the TIDA-00817 design guide.
Stacking the modules does not increase the current, the balance current remains the same. System load current does not flow through the module. Stacking the modules allows balancing between cells on different modules through transfer to and from the isolated 12V supply common to all modules.
  • Hi WM5295

How would the output of the modules be gang together?

    ANy ref design?

  • Hi INg,

The modules have the communication path which is bi-directional but there is a bottom side and top side.  The isolated 12V from each module connect to the same battery.  The cells are separate of course.  The TIDA-00817 design is available as the EM1402EVM and has the user guide available which shows more description on the interfaces.  The design of the wiring diagram however is left to the user to be customized for their individual configuration.
