ADS8507: Acquisition Time

Hi Team,

Our customer is upgrading from the ADS7807 to the ADS8507.

And they would like to confirm the acquisition time of the ADS8507.

According to the datasheet, acquisition time (t8) is 5ns (typ).

However, according to the application report slaa355b, the acquisition time is 5us (typ).

Also, are there any other changes in critical parameters between the ADS7807(DIP package) and ADS8507(SOIC package) aside from what is given in the application report.

The minimum acquisition time in the ADS8507 data sheet should be 5us. Thanks for pointing this out. Regarding your question about the DIP vs. SOIC package, I will ask the author of the applications report.

Hi Carl,

Other than the differences pointed out in SLAA355, there are a few additions to the 'typical' specifications for the ADS8507 B grade part and a few minor improvements in AC specs, but that's it. The ADS8507 is not offered in the DIP package which you've already seen. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
