pcm3168a Routing from digital to digital and analog to analog possible?

Hello. I recently designed a audio coced board based on the pcm3168a.

I'm now wondering if it's possible to route the digital input to the digital output and the analog in to analog out?

At the Moment I can just route from digital to analog and analog to digital. Isn't it possible to have a amp on the digital output and route analog and digital signals to the amp?

I've moved your post to the Audio Converter e2e.

That's an interesting question. I'm not sure if this device has a mux in it like that. It's not apparent from the block diagram.

Have you studied the register map to see if such a routing is offered?

Hi Don, thanks for your fast answer.

I really thought that there is a mux inside but as I tried to program the pcm3168a I realized that there is no way to do it.

It's a stupid AD and DA Converter in one chip. Seperated from each other. Man... that's not good. That kills my whole design.

But thanks for your answer. If you know a pin compatible device or a new Rev. of this chip with MUX please let me know about it ;-)

Hi, Bernhard,

Our TLV320AICxxxx product line is much more flexible.

But, nowhere near pin compatible...
