Issue in EVM kit of TLV320DAC3120

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC3120EVM-U

Hi,

I have been using EVM kit TLV320DAC3120EVM-U for my testing. I have been facing issues with the eeprom of eval board. The board is being detected in the codec control software, but not able to perform any operations. The EEPROM seems to be corrupted or erased. Please provide the method how to rewrite the EEPROM and also provide the other required eeprom files to be written to the EEPROM other than DAC init files if any.

Can the EEPROM be replaced with a new one. In other words, is any files other then DAC init files are stored in EEPROM, like config files for host controller in EVM board.

  • Hi,

I will have my colleague look into this.

    Best Regards,

    dave

  • If the UI detects the board then the EEPROM is good.
What's the EVM status on the bottom left of the UI window?
If it is "error" then the EVM is defective and you have to exchange it.

  • The EVM status is good under normal circumstances. But during any operation such as configuring DAC it throws communication error message at the status.

When i probed the I2C lines, i found that the lines were pulled low always irrespective of communication. When i tried isolating EEPROM from the I2C bus, the lines were normal. Hence i doubt with the EEPROM.

So i have questions like if i replace the EEPROM with a new one, would the board function. In other words is there any other files stored in EEPROM other than DAC config files.

  • The EVM won't boot up if the EEPROM is damaged because the EEPROM contains the firmware for the USB uC.

There are no files stored on the EEPROM besides the firmware.

Please exchange the EVM for a new one.
