Diff b/w DSP chips offering miniDSP and those that dont?

Hey
Among these, which would be a good start for a digital audio processing application.

TLV320AIC3204, PCM3070, TLV320AIC3104 , TLV320AIC3254

The diff b/w the first one and the other three is that miniDSP is not pre-configured as mentioned in the datasheet.

What I was particularly interested is that for implementation, would like to program basic circuits like IIR/FIR filters for lowpass xover, basic low frequency extension and stereo equalization.

So, also, is it safe to say that using the first one, it would require much more configuration than the other three to implement those audio enhancing circuits?

Thanks.

  • Hello Arjun,

Sorry for the late response. The selection of the codec  will depend on the application of your system, the TLVxxx are low power codecs designed for their use in portable applications, PCMxxx devices are more related to home applications.

The AIC3104 and AIC3104 doesn't have MiniDSP, but have several audio enhancement components. If you want to use the MiniDSP, you may select AIC3254. I suggest you to take a look to this wiki page, there you can find a lot of information about MiniDSP programming.
