PCM5242RHBEVM SPDIF input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5242, PCM5242RHBEVM, SRC4392, TPA3244

Hello

My customer intend ti use PCM5242 + TPA32xx ,  evaluating PCM5242RHBEVM.

Currently they can have sound from output terminal in case USB input and Hybridflow 1~7 and no Hybridflow.

In case SPDIF input, they click the Coax In icon in the PPC2 configulation tab, and follows the jumper setting as configulation tab.

So, In case no-Hybrid flow, they have sound in the output terminal.

However, in case SPDIF input, they can not have in case Hybrid flow.

Would you please advise  the correct procedure in case SPDIF input and Hybrid flow?

If you had the script file , please send me.  It is so helpful for us.

We reffered  following also.

  • Hi Kanji,

  • Hello Justin san

    Thank you for your reply.

Customer want to evaluate Hybrid flow with SPDIF input.

    I am waiting your advise.

    Best Regards

  • Hi Kanji,

It looks as though the clock setting for the SRC4392 are off. The incomming clock rate for hybridflow 6 is 48 KhZ, and by default the SRC4392 is sending 192 kHz audio. You can change the clock divider in the SRC4392 to output 48 kHz with the following script write:

    w e0 0e 05

Change the GUI to advanced mode, then go to the Direct I2C Read/Write tab and run the above command by copying it into the Command Buffer Interface, then hitting Execute. This is of course after you have already selected SPDIF as the input in the Configure tab.

  • Dear Justin san

    I had followed your suggestion ( write 05 to 0x0e of SRC4392 ), and I found output PCM5242 EVM and PPC2 myself

: in case SPDIF input, Hybrid flow  using CD player(Optical).

    Thank you very much !!

If available, please give me your advise about ' audio data overflow ' indication  in PPC2 window.

I suffered depend on  input musicl stop/play,  audio data status change from  ' OK(green)' to ' Overflow '(Red)'.

I would like to know appropriate setting of SRC4392 for PCM5242 EVM if there were anything else except 0x0e=05.

(Anyway, I will talk with customer)

My customer is  selecting next solution for their Active speaker

and PCM5242+TPA3244 seems to best for sound quality ...

    Best Regards

  • Hi Kanji,

The overflow flag means that you have clipped in the DSP, which is possible with the hybrid flows, gain was applied to the input signal and it was enough to clip "full scale". You should be able to lower the gain in PPC2 to avoid the overflow. (Sliders on the right side)
