Why Proximity Data is down on detecting the target of ferrite core?

I have a question;

according to this Forum, when ferrous material is near the coil, the inductance decrease.

I've understood.

But I checked that when ferrite core ( such as noise suppression parts) is close to coil, the proximity data  is down and inductance increase. (Maybe  Rp is increase.)

I would like to know the theory  why proximity data decrease.

In the case that the target is iron, proximity data increase.

And if my result was correct, how does the procedure to determine Rp_Min and Rp_Max I make?

Now I did the following;

1. I search the proper setting Rp_min and Rp_max at no target, trying to close to 32768 (2^15)

2. Detecting target status, I try to adapt most changeable setting. (Almost  I tuned Rp_min value.)

So, if you could, please tell me the proper procedure.

Kindest Regards,

Edgard
