Code Composer Issues w/ connecting to MSP & Internet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430FR5969

Hi I'm trying to connect my computer using CCS to the MSP-EXP430FR5969 and I'm receiving the errors (1), followed by (2) below. I then tried to update the software, and clicked "check for updates" and received message (3). When I click ok, I receive error (4). I tried going to the url on firefox and it said (5). In addition, when I click on CCS App Center, a new tab opens up that's completely empty. I am running ubontu on on a Macintosh Air 84:38:35:5e:d8:92 I am pretty sure the issue stems from CCS needing to be updated. My research team Lead is using a macbook and he is able to connect to the same MSP. We are both using the same internet, which has a firewall setting of default.]

[Steps Needed to Recreate Problem:

1) Error initializing emulator:
MSP-FET430UIF is already in use

2)Starting Debug Server ...
MSP430: Error initializing emulator: MSP-FET430UIF is already in use

3)No updates were found.

4)No repository found at http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/uniflash.

5)File not found."
  • Christian,

Sorry about the delayed reply. Are you still having these issues with connecting to the FET?

Which version of CCS are you using? If it is not the latest, could you try downloading and installing 6.1 from here? Then do not take any updates (you can ignore the messages that says there are updates available) and see if you can get the connection to FET going. Usually a message like " MSP-FET430UIF is already in use" means that another resource may be using the USB, such as in this thread. Could you check if something similar might be going on in your case?

  • We (we're teammates) just reinstalled the latest version and still have had no luck. How do we check if something like a Python script (we aren't running any ourselves, but could some still be running automatically?) is set to a higher priority than the FET udev?
