TINA/Spice: TINA plot pulse wattage calculation available?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

To Whom it may concern:

Can power be calculated for pulses in TINA plots (please see enclosed jpg: Q5_power, Function2/MOSFET_Power)?   If so, how can this be accomplished?

Thanks

  • Art,

If I understand your question correctly, I am assuming you would like to calculate average Power (over a certain time duration) from the Power versus time plot.

You can use the average function in TINA-TI waveform viewer to calculate average / rms values.

    1) Zoom your waveform to the desired x-axis range.

    2) Click on the curve you want to Average.

    3) Click on Process -> Averages from the top menu bar.

This will give you the average value for the waveform along with RMS and absolute average (in your case Power, but can be used for any other waveform you need to calculate average for). For example below image shows average of R1_power over 20us to 60us.
