TINA/Spice/TPS50601-SP: Is the SYNC pin programmed properly in the PSpice Model?

Part Number: TPS50601-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

TPS50601-SP The data sheet states that if you leave the RT pin floating, then the SYNC pin will output a specified frequency signal (500k)

My customer is using OrCAD PSpice 16.6 and he is not seeing this in the model. Is this something that was not designed into the original model as is there a problem in simulating the proper output from the SYNC pin? Is there an issue with the model? I have looked at the customer’s model and do not see any issues with how it is configured.

Thanks for your help with this!

  • Hi Richard,

SYNC feature is available in the model. We have tested it and observed when RT is left floating, output of SYNC pin is frequency signal of 500KHz. Below is the schematic and steady state result.

    Published PSPICE schematic:

Steady state result showing SYNC pin output:

Could you please share the testbench configured by the customer so that we can look into the issue?

    Thanks,

  • Vivek,

Here is how the customer has the model configured in Orcad:

They are populating the Rt pin, but have not seen the expected 500kHz output from the SYNC pin when they leave the Rt pin floating.

They are also seeing the SYNC signal getting stuck high for various durations:

They are not getting the same results. Could this be an issue with the model or could it be that the the download was not proper?

Thanks for your help with this!
