DLPDLCR2000EVM loose lens on arrival, rattles.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPDLCR2000EVM

I just got a DLPDLCR2000EVM in mail.  It rattles.  It turns out the lens is rattling and loose. It looks like its focus adjustment is fragged.  How does this get past quality control?

What exactly, apart from sending it back for a refund, am I to do?

Cheers,

Ray

  • Ray,

The optical engines on the DLPDLCR2000EVM are shipped with an optical engine that features a loose focus lever. This is mainly due to the fact that the optical engine is designed to be used in an enclosure that features a mechanical interface with the lever.

As it happens, the default focus lever provided is actually a screw which can be unscrewed and replaced with any other part as you wish. In order to compensate for the loose focus on this optical engine, a small mechanical kit for modifying the optical engine with a more stable mechanical setup is provided with all systems shipped. A tutorial on implementing the modification was linked above.

    I hope this helps.
