Hello,

We purchased a DLP® LightCrafter™ Evaluation Module (www.ti.com/.../dlplightcrafter) as a projector for our clinic, but we face an issue when we use it to project our generated pattern. We use Matlab to generate a multicolor square pattern as guards to detect the distance between certain objects, the problem is, no matter how we alter the size of our pattern image, the squares change into rectangles after the projecting. In the description, it says that this can display image up to 854*480 and can use patterns resolution of 608*684, but we tried both resolutions, our image still gets a little bit deformation.

I want to ask about the ideal resolution for this projector to display an image that will cause no deformation.

Could you please provide more details about your system configuration -
1. OS
2. Display mode (section 2.3 of EVM user guide) www.ti.com/.../dlpu006e.pdf
3. Bit depth of patterns.

Hi Yang,

If you are looking for no image deformation, i would recommend you generating the images of resolution 608x684; please note that when this resolution image is seen on a PC/Desktop the image looks stretched, but when image is loaded on the DMD, it will look proper this is because of the diamond orientation of the pixel on the DMD.

You can also consider the diamond pixel arrangement as another input for you while generating the your 608x684 resolution images.

Also please note, with diamond - in true sense, the horizontal size of 608 pixels is actually larger than vertical 684 lines.
