DLPLCR4500EVM: Not booting when power up

Welcome to the DLP Forums and thank you for your question.

It looks and sounds like the device is repeatedly turning on and off, so my first guess would be the power supply. If you're able to find a different power supply to try, that would be good.

There really aren't any other connections to worry about on the board when you're just powering up, so I'm stumped about the behavior that you're seeing. I don't know what would be different about the ATX supply as compared to our recommended supply - one thing that comes to mind is perhaps there is a ground issue?

How long ago did you purchase your Lightcrafter? Has it ever worked properly?

Thanks for the welcome!  We acquired the lightcrafter about a year ago but it has been sitting inside its box since then but now is the time when we have to work with it for our current project.

I'll try with a switching power supply in these days. I'll let you know whatever happends.

Hello again Paul, is there any system requirements for installing the Lightcrafter GUI? Im under 64 bit - windows 7. When I installed the GUI ("DLPR350PROM-3.0.0-windows-installer")  this is the only i got in the install directory.

Any suggestions?

Hi Jose,

You've actually downloaded and installed the FW for the DLPC350, not the GUI for the Lightcrafter.

You want this download: www.ti.com/dlplcr4500gui-v4

Hi Paul,

Not sure Why or How, but i changed to a switching power supply 12V @5A and everything works like a charm now. Any ideas what's the deal with an ATX it's a new one.

I don't have enough experience with power supplies to say why the ATX one would be different. Perhaps the 12V rail was too far from 12V for the EVM (really 11V?) or maybe something with grounding/isolation in the ATX?
