LED Collimated Beam Diameter

Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone could provide a measurement of the diameter of the collimated beams from the LEDs. I've been considering replacing them with collimated laser diodes while maintaining the bulk of the light-engine design. If anyone could provide the beam diameters or any thoughts on this procedure it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Sam,

Welcome to the DLP Advanced Light Control section of the TI-E2E community.

The laser will have an etendue that is very different  from the LED's.

In general you will want to fill the diameter of the final lens on the illumination side wit the collimated laser.

I am hoping that someone in the community that has done something similar might have some advice for you.
