external trigger

I am using DLP 4500 now.

I am trying to trigger this DLP to run pattern sequences.\

What should I do?

I just use jump J10 or 12 to run it?

Best,

James

  • Hi James,

The input and output triggers on the LightCrafter 4500 are J11 and J14 respectively. The terminals on J10 and J12 set the voltage levels of the triggers and are not the triggers themselves. Please read Section 1.5 "DLP LightCrafter 4500 Jumpers" of the User's Guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/DLPU0011) to learn how to configure the trigger voltage levels.

If you want an external device to trigger the LightCrafter 4500 use connect your trigger source to J11. When you create your pattern sequence, set the individual pattern settings to either “External Positive” or “External Negative” instead of “Internal Trigger.”

If you want the LightCrafter 4500 to trigger an external device use J14. When you create your pattern sequence, use the "Internal Trigger" for your individual pattern settings.

Please read the User's Guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/DLPU0011) section 7.1 "Input Trigger Connectors" and 7.2 "Output Trigger Connectors" for the pinouts and connector part numbers of J11 and J14.

  • Thank you so much, Blair.

I have created squence patterns, and clicked "send" and "Play" in control pannel.

It worked under "Internal Trigger" in the individual pattern settings.

In external trigger, I connected my trigger wires into pin 1 (+) and pin 2(-) in J11.

I set "external trigger" in the individual pattern settings.

I ran my program but it does not show anything.

Also at the same time, I use oscilloscope to make sure if it generates trigger signal (3.3 V).

So I measured the voltage between pin1 and pin2. It is 3.27 V constantly without triggerring.

Is it fine? or What's wrong with me.

  • Hello James,

Check J10 on the LightCrafter 4500 EVM, jumper installed at Pin3-Pin4 for 3.3V operation.

Pin#1 of J11 is of TRIG VCC Reference, could you connect the external trigger pulse, signal at Pin#2 and trigger signal GND signal at Pin#3.

    Regards,

    Sanjeev

  • Hi,

I just connected the external trigger + and - to pin#2 and pin #3 respectively.

The pattern I have set did not show.

How to check if the trigger is working or not.

    Many thanks in advance.

    James

  • To make sure, which is the pin #1?
Is the location of pin #1 close to the standby switch?
  • Yes, J11 Pin-1 is closer to the Standby switch.
