Basic control sequence for bit depth

Hi

Does someone have a timing diagram of how to generate an 8-bit color channel image on a DLP?

I think, from what I have been reading, its based on reloading the DLP during reset period?

For example....I create a time....lets say 127micro-seconds

Then if i had 8 pixels with values.... 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,127

I would actually display 8 frames in which each frame had an on-time of ~16us

So then the first pixel would be on for only 1 frame, then 2 frames, 3 frames, 4 frames...and so on.

Basically, is the color depth created by "PWM" modulating a constant light source from an LED?

A timing diagram would be super :D
