DLPDLCR3310EVM: Removing light-engine or alternative EVM without light engine

Hi,

I am interested in using DLP 3310 DMD for a pattern illumination kind of application. I see the corresponding Evaluation board (DLPDLCR3310EVM) as a great starting point.

My concern is the light-engine part of this EVM and am wondering if it is easy to remove the light-engine to expose the DMD and still work with the EVM i.e. use the GUI and USB connection to control the display using a PC.

Since this EVM is introduced recently, I could not find enough information on the forum. If someone knows about this EVM or even an alternative EVM which will be more suitable for using DLP3310 then do let me know.

Welcome to the E2E forums, and thanks for your interest in our DLP products.

It may be possible to dismantle the optics of the light engine and connect only the DMD. However, if you are looking for pattern illumination, you may want to investigate our upcoming DLPC3478 chipset, which is optimized for sensing applications:

In our existing portfolio, I also recommend you check out the LightCrafter 4500, which is an EVM designed for high-speed sensing projects:

This is definitely helpful. I shall look up more into LightCrafter 4500. Only reason I prefer DLP3310 is for its smallest pixel size. Speed is not much of a constraint in my application.
