Profibus Transceiver with fault protection

Hello,

i´m looking for an profibus transceiver p.e. the SN65HVD1176. These devices has an max. rating of -9 to +14V on any bus I/O terminal, so the transceiver is not protected to an shortcircuit to the 24V power supply lines of the device. In some RS-485 transceiver an protection circuit which withstands up to 70V is allready integrated p.e. the SN65HVD1786.

Does someone knows an Profibus Transceiver with integrated protection circuit?

Or

Is there an alternative remark / recommendation how to solved such protection discreet?

    Sebastion, I do not know of any Profibus transceiver with internal 24V protection. Below is a discrete solution with transient suppressors that protect against voltages outside the RS-485 common-mode range of -7V to +12V. Within this range data transmission needs to be guaranteed. Outside that range the TVS diodes become low-impedance and drive bus currents to ground. However, since their clamping voltages are higher than the maximum specified voltage of the transceiver, I strongly recommend to insert a pulse-proof resistor into each bus line.
