testing of CC2531+CC2591 using smart RF studio 7 version 1.4.9

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2591, CC2531, CC2530

Dear TI,

We have developed a USB dongle with CC2531+ CC2591. We need to test the range extender using smart RF studio 7 version 1.4.9. But unfortunately the CC2591 option is available only with cc2530 but not with cc2531in the smart RF studio7. please clarify the reason for "cc2591 option not being there in the cc2531 panel of smart RF studio7" and suggest us how to use smart RF studio to test cc2591 along with cc2531.

regards,

sumona

  • Hi,

The reason for not having support for CC2591 in the CC2531 Device Control was that we do not have any reference designs with this combination.

As a workaround you can do the following:

    - Open the register definition file for CC2530 (found in SmartRF Tools\SmartRF Studio 7\config\xml\cc2530\register_description.xml)

    - The definition of the registers P0 and P0DIR are missing in the register description file for CC2531, so copy these from cc2530\register_description.xml into cc2531\register_description.xml. These registers are required to control CC2591.

    - You can then open the DC panel in offline mode for CC2530 and see how these registers are controlled in the various modes when CC2591 is enabled.

    - Then open the DC panel for CC2531 and manually set the registers according to the values for CC2530.

This workaround should work if you have connected the same signals for controlling CC2591 as on the CC2530-CC2591 EM reference design board.
