REPEATER USING CC85XX

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC8521, CC2590, CC8520

Hi everybody!

I want to reTX an audio signal that I RX with the CC8521,  using another CC8521.

I plan a way to do this:

The signal arrives to the CC8521 (+ CC2590) ---> this I2S signal goes to a I2S /  S/PDIF converter (I choose DIT 4096 ) --> then the S/PDIF signal goes to a S/PDIF / I2S converter (DIR 9001) -->  then this I2S signal goes to the CC8521 (+CC2590) that TX.

In your opinion, can it work? What is the better solution?

Thanks :)

  • Hi Vito,

    That could work. Not sure if I understand the need for the S/PDIF (cable between the two devices?) though.
    The audio signal will arrive the first device (CC8520, as the CC8521 can never be a PurePath Wireless slave) and if the other device (CC8520 as a master) is set up with external DSP interface and with external clock source the I2S interface can be tied directly in-between the two devices.

    I also would have tested this using our evaluation kits (CC85XXDK have the I2S available on pin-rows) to see how good this would work in practice. Especially if the two devices are very close to each other in distance you can get RF saturation (due to the CC2590). The adaptive frequency hopping algorithm should make the two devices "play nicely" together but this totally depends on the external environment and interference from other 2.4 GHz systems.

    remember that the latency will add for each additional reTX.

    Hope this answers your question and that you find our wireless audio solution a good fit for your application.

    Best regards,
    Kjetil
