F28377S -- Dev Kit Compatibility -- F28377D controlCARD compatibility

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28377S, ENERGIA

Hi again team,

I want to evaluate and develop with the TMS320F28377S but the suggested dev kit carries the dual-core D device.  I see that the S and D variants are pin-to-pin compatible with the same peripheral devices, so it appears that the only difference is core count.  Is this correct?

Is a decrease in computational capacity the only difference I can expect?  If I develop with the 28377D device, will my project be able to load directly on to a 28377S target?

Regards,

  • Hi Rob,

Yes, both devices are pin compatible and should have same set of peripherals. You should be able to develop the code on 28377D (for single CPU) and load it directly on 28377S device but  please check the memory configuration of the device which you are going to use later and develop your linker cmd file accordingly.

  • I realize im piggy-backing this conversation nearly 2 years later..

Since energia supports the F28377S, how can i get it the program to compile on the F28377D???

Also if its not possible, how do I write code once and install on either card? I dont know how to make is esaily to switch between?

    thanks,

    Chuck
