Sensorless Control with highly varying speed and load profile

Dear experts

I am currently looking at working on a project which will involve deploying PMSM in highly dynamic loading environment. My questions are

1. What are your typical applications.

2. In your experience, how well does this approach cope with rapidly varying speed and load on the motor.

3. What strategies are useful to make start-up smooth? Since the algorithm depends on phase currents and back emf, it makes sense that low speed operation will not be optimal.
