Pulse train generation with F28M36

Hello,

I was wondering whether is it possible to generate a pulse train with F28M36 microcontroller? I would need this functionality in order to trigger an external ADC.

I have an incoming pulse signal and I have to create an output pulse train immediately without interrupt when an incoming pulse arrives. Is it possible somehow to create an output pulse train with defined period time and period number? (E.g. with ePWM or eCAP)

What is the nature of the incoming pulse? is it a one time pulse or switching signal?
Does the output need to get triggered once and continuously pulsed from then on?
Very likely there is no option without interrupt or software intervention.

Thanks for your response!

The incoming pulse is a one time pulse.
The output needs to be triggered once and continuously from then on as you told, but only for a given time. So when the incoming pulse is occurred we immediately have to output a pulse and from then on also the defined number of pulses, but not infinite.
We still have the option to do some modifications in the hardware layout, but we only can change some pin-to-pin connections

How much delay can your application take from the input signal to the pulse train generation start?

Currently it is hard to say, but I think that the maximum delay is around 200ns.

One option is to pre-configure the EPWM to generate the pulse train as needed but not start the operation.
Fastest way is to monitor GPIO input signal pin status in CPU and start EPWM to generate the pulse train. But, continuous polling of the pin may or may not be an option. Otherwise you need to use the interrupt based on GPIO pin.
You can keep track of number of pulses transmitted and turn off PWM as needed.
