DRV2700: High voltage Piezo drive

Part Number: DRV2700
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40210, OPA454, LM3478, LM3488, CSD19535

Hi all,

I want to drive PZT transducers with differential voltage between 50 Vpp to 100 Vpp. The drive frequency will be between 1 MHz and 3 MHz. The impedance of the piezo's in this frequency range is between 10 Ohms and 30 Ohms. I want to experiment with different wave shapes.

The DRV2700 is the closest but cannot drive signals in MHz . Could you please suggest any other parts that can come close to my requirement.

Thanks,

  • Hi Sudhir,

You will need to make a discrete solution. For the boost, you may want to check out the TPS40210. I am not aware of any piezo drivers capable of driving in the megahertz range.
There are a few other posts in the DC/DC Forum regarding the boost architecture using the PMP5161 or the LM3478/LM3488. For the amplifier stage, maybe the OPA454 or CSD19535 (or similar). Again these will depend on the power needed to drive your piezo load.

You may want to ask your questions in a more general term instead of listing it under the DRV2700. It will reach a more general audiance. I've referenced a few similar posts above.
