  • Attached is a spreadsheet to aid in calculations for the watchdog and MCU ESM module of the TPS65381A-Q1.

    MCU ESM Calculator:

    • TMS570 Mode:   will calculate detected low time on the ERROR/WDI pin.  Customer enters register setting as a HEX value and the spreadsheet will calculate the low time minimum and maximum to detect a MCU error from its error signal.

    • PWM Mode:   will calculate low time and the high time on the ERROR/WDI pin.  Customer enters register setting as a HEX value and the spreadsheet will calculate the minimum and maximum times to detect a MCU error from its error signal.

    Watchdog Calculator:

    • Both Modes:

      • Window 1 and Window 2 minimum and maximum value calculations from customer entered register values (HEX).
      • Customer enters target minimum watchdog fail count their software will decrement the WD_FAIL_CNT to so that the minimum and maximum time to ENDRV going low (ENABLE_DRV = 1) and then NRES going low (RESET state transition while WD_RST_EN = 1) based on the targeted minimum WD_FAIL_CNT and settings for Window 1 and Window 2.

    • Trigger Mode:

      • MCU clock timing and tolerance is entered by customer.
      • Spreadsheet confirms with MCU timing and tolerance and watchdog settings for TPS65381A-Q1 if the settings for the watchdog will create good events in the known valid trigger time.

    • Q&A Mode:

      • MCU clock timing, tolerance and MCU answer times is entered by customer
      • Spreadsheet confirms with MCU timing and tolerance and watchdog settings for TPS65381A-Q1 if the settings for the watchdog will create good events in the known valid trigger time.
