BQ24232: About the Quiescent Current

Are you testing this on an EVM? Is F1 a shunt resistor? What is the test procedure when this was seen?

Nope.I tested this on my PCB.Not EVM.

F1 is a PTC Resettable Fuse.

About the test procedure:

We have design a small PCB to test the circuit,like the attatched image.

option 1:

Battery=Li-Po battery.

IN PIN NO conection.OUT PIN No conection.

CE = Low

all the time,

CHG and PG were floating,no conection.

We use a multimeter to measure the battery + between BAT PIN.

option2:

Battery=Li-Po battery.

IN PIN NO conection.OUT PIN No conection.

CE = Low

all the time,

CHG and PG were conected to LEDS,and attached the circuit.

We use a multimeter to measure the battery + between BAT PIN.

I tested this on a unit i have and i see about 4uA. Can you try this without PTC fuse?

The current without the fuse resulted around 13μA. By any chance you have another suggestion i can try?

Hi,
The only other reason this will happen is there is a leakage path on the board trace because this is higher than the expected current. Can you post your board layout and also remove every component between the battery and the device and check this again.

What is NetBAt1_3 connected to? It seems to be the thermistor pin. Did you notice any difference i n the current when you removed the capacitors and PTC fuse?

NetBAt1_3 is currently connectrd to 10k resistor to replace the NTC. We tried removing both the capacitor and PTC fuse, the current did dropped by 0.5uA.

How is the current measured?

the current was measured using a fluke 287 in series with the circuit
