TL494: Maximum output voltage in emitter follower mode

Part Number: TL494

Hello,

As shown in diagram below, what is the maximum voltage we will get at the output? Base voltage is provided by the NOR gate. If the digital circuit is powered by 5V(Internal Regulator). Will the output be clamp at 5-0.6 = 4.3V? The Vcc in our application is 16V. We are targeting to tie Output control to GND and shorting C1, C2 and E1, E2.

  • Hi Shyama,

The maximum voltage we will get at the output is near Vcc but with a Vce(sat) drop.
Yes you are right that the output will be clamped around 5-0.6 = 4.3V when the condition is that Vcc is 16V, tie Output control to GND and short C1, C2 and E1, E2, the digital circuit is powered by 5V(Internal Regulator).

    Regards,
    Teng
