The BQ24257/8 datasheet states that the 24258 is for charging LiFePO4 batteries. Is this part acceptable for charging normal li-ion batteries as well?

The reason that I would like to use the 24258 instead of the 24257 is for the default VIN charging max of 10.5V, as we have a 9V supply as a possible wall power source.

bq24258 cannot be used to charge LiIon. Can you use the bq24250?

The 24250 looks like it might be suitable. How are the EN1 and EN2 pins connected to support USB2 charging currents?

Yes, I see their effects, I just do not understand how this facilitates meeting the USB2.0 device current draw spec. How are the En1 and En2 pins meant to be toggled? Are they static? Are they connected to the USB data lines in some way? Are they meant to be controlled by the device processor?

If you need D+/D- communication then use bq24251.
