BQ24232: State of CHG doesn't change after charging termination

Part Number: BQ24232

Hi Sir,

After charging termination, measure the input current less then 10mA, and the battery voltage is 4.34V, but state of CHG is still stay low(means charging).

Could you please help on this, thank you.

  • Hello Chentsu,
From page 23 of the datasheet: "Termination detection is disabled whenever the charge rate is reduced because of the actions of the thermal
loop, the DPPM loop, or the VIN(LOW) loop." . Please check your setup to ensure that the device isn't above 125 degrees Celsius. Also, ensure that the system load current isn't more than the preset maximum input current and Vin is not below the stated minimums.

  • Hi Sir,
Thanks for your hel. For the testing condition, the device is working under 125 degreeC, and the enviroment temp. is 25 degreeC, and there is no system current by remove R6. The input voltage is constant 5V by DC source.

Could you please help on it, thank you very much.
  • Hello Chentsu,

I noticed that your ILIM resistor value is below the recommended ones as shown below. Also what is your voltage at IN? Its not clear from your schematic.

  • Hi Sir,

I have tried to use resistor within the range, but it's the same. BTW, input is 5V from DC source, thank you very much.
  • Chentsu,
The battery voltage should not go above 4.23V. Try pulling up the CHG pin with a resistor and a LED to Out. What resistor did you change ILIM to and would you be a little more precise about the charge current after termination. Also please state the charge current during fast charge.  If any of these don't help, try using a new device and see if you have the same problem.
