cannot charge with bq24123

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24123

Hi  support!

We use a bq24123 in the charge project with 2 cells battery. There is  an issure in the debugguing. The waveform between out pin of bq24123 and the inductor is similar with the another terminal of the inductor. And when the 15V ac adapter is plugged , the PG pin is low level, the voltage of the STAT1 & STAT2 is 9.2 V, voltage of VTSB is 3.2V, voltage of TS pin is 1.6V.

When the battery is existing, the BAT pin voltage is equal to the battery voltage, but there is no PWM waveform at the OUT pin.

So what can I do to solve the problem? Thank you!

  • Hi,

Apologies for the delayed response. Thank you for sharing so many details, waveforms, and schematic.

You said that both STAT 1 and STAT 2 pins are 9.2V. This means both of the internal STAT transistors are off so STAT1 and STAT2 are being pulled up to VCC. This means the charger is in the "charge suspend state." This occurs due to a timer fault, overvoltage condition, while in sleep mode, and when the battery is absent.

It isn't sleep mode since the adapter is connected and PG is low.

You said the battery is connected when this problem occurs so the charge suspend is not due to battery being absent.

This leaves us with timer fault and/or output overvoltage.

You said the BAT pin equals the battery voltage. What is that battery Voltage?

Is the first waveform of the output before the battery is connected?
