BQ78350-R1: BQ78350-R1 Application Qusetion

Part Number: BQ78350-R1

Hi Sir,

Currently we design BBU system now, but have some question need you help.

1. What are difference about Charge Suspend&Charge Inhibit&Charge Disable ?

2. Current use 4 cell. we can setting VC1、VC2、VC3、VC5 ?  not setting VC1、VC2、VC3、VC4.

3. ExtAveEN (Bit 4) - we setting "0" , but each cell also can measurement.

  • Wen,
Charge Inhibit will prevent charging, if charging is not in progress and the temperature is above the Charge Inhibit threshold. It will not stop charging if charging is in progress and the temperature transitions above the threshold.

Charge Suspend will halt charging, if charging is in progress and the temperature transitions above the Charge Suspend threshold. It will also prevent charging if charging is not progress and the temperature is above the threshold.

Charge Disable turns the charge FET off if a valid safety condition is violated.

    VC1、VC2、VC3、VC5 are correct.

The External Average Voltage is optional and mainly used if the bq78350-R1 is used without the AFE. You should use the cell voltages reported by the AFE, if it is used.

  • Hi Sir,

    Thanks a lot.
Sorry, this is first use, so has many question.
May I know difference about OCDL and AOVD? Is define difference trigger method ?

    e.g.
OCDL mean occur current limit when pack remove or reinsert ?

OCD -> status, OCDL -> action, right?

AOVD mean total 252(8.4V/30A) watt. if discharge 32A will define overload ?

AOVD -> status, AOVDL -> action, right?

  • Hi Yun,

I would recommend you reading/searching the bq78350-R1 TRM.

OCDL means Overcurrent in Discharge Latch

AOLD means Overload in Discharge recovery
