UCD3138 supports necessary HW function for CRM of PFC?

Hi Folks,

Does UCD3138 have necessary hardware function for CRM of PFC?
Is it possible to be turned on like a ZCD terminal on analog CRM control IC when it detects voltage level from choke coil auxiliary winding.
Moreover, is it possible to use both simultaneously 1) Turn on by receiving external signal and 2) Turn off at peak current in AFE?

Hope the questions are easy to understand.
Otherwise, please let me know so that I could try to explain clearly.

Does UCD3138 support CRM ( Critical Conduction Mode) of PFC?

Hi Hit,

The answer is yes if you can tell UCD3138 when the current goes to zero. UCD3138 itself does not have zero current detection, you will need external circuit to detect that, and then generate a pulse sending to the SYNC pin of UCD3138.

Do we have a sample schematic for CRM of PFC with an external zero current detection circuit?
It would be very helpful.

Hi Hitoshi,

Sorry we don't have UCD3138 controlled CRM PFC example, but that circuit should not be complicated, all UCD3138 need is a pulse signal.
