TPS43061 – About OVP and PG function

Hi,

 

We would like to ask a behavior of the OVP and Power Good (PG) function.

Please let me know if my understanding is incorrect.

 

[OVP function]

I believe that when the FB pin is opened, the OVP function is not worked.

Because, the FB voltage(VFB) does not correspond to the following condition.

 

 

[PG function]

I believe that when FB pin is opened, the PG MOSFET turns on and pulls the PG pin low.

Because, the FB voltage (VFB) does not correspond to the following condition.

 

So, I believe that the PG function can be used for the open detection of the FB pin.

    Correct, this OVP funciton only works when FB is connected to the resistor divider.

    In a true FB open condition the FB voltage is unpredictable and using PGOOD may not be 100% reliable. The FB voltage would vary with any noise because it is a very high impedance pin. If the FB top or FB low resistor is still connected to FB then the PGOOD [in would work as you described.
