LM25037: AC-DC power supply 600W and 1200W

Part Number: LM25037
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5033, UCC28251, , LM5035, UC2823A, UCC256303, UCC28950, UCC28070, UCC28064, UCC28180, UCC28063, UCC29950, UCC28951, UCC256301

What parts do you recommend for 600W and 1200W ( AC-DC power supply, Vin=90V-264V,  Vout=50V with dynamic load [50mSec-100% load, 50mSec-10% load],  application)?

I did find below parts:

1) UCC2851

2) LM5033

3) UCC28251

4) LM25037

5) LM5035

6) UC2823A

7) UCC256303  ( LLC controller).

Is/are there any eval-board available of the above part#?

Which topology,  will have a better response based on high Dynamic load (LLC,  Resonance,  Half-Bridge or Full bridge)?

  • Hi SHAHRIAR MOHAMMADI,

    Please answer two more questions:
    1) Do you require input power factor correction.
    2) Do you have an efficiency, or standby power requirement?

It is likely that the specification can be met by any of the parts that you mentioned.
I believe that a hard switched topology, such as half-bridge or full bridge, will provide better transient response than a resonant or LLC topology.
On the other hand a resonant topology such as LLC will provide quite good transient response and better efficiency.
I hope this helps to answer your question.
    Thanks

  • Hi Joe,

    Yes,  I  need PFC

Yes,  I need to meet the standby input power and efficiency as well.

Is there any EVAL-BOARD available (mentioned 7 parts)?

    Thanks

    Shahriar

  • Hello Joe,
Would you please end me below required information related to UCC28251, UCC28950 and LM5035:

    1) Quotation based on Qty=10K and 50K
    2) Eval-board related to each model
    3) Lead-time.
  • Hi SHAHRIAR MOHAMMADI,
You will need a power factor controller to provide the PFC function. The following parts should be suitable for this function:
UCC28070; UCC28064; UCC28063; UCC28180 would be suitable controllers for the PFC function.
You may also consider using UCC29950. This is a combo controller that combines CCM PFC and LLC.
What is your standby input power target?
How small is the output voltage transient deviation that you require with this 10% - 100% load step.
UCC28951 is a phase shifted full-bridge controller that you could use, but I am not sure of its standby power consumption.
UCC256301 is an LLC controller that can achieve very low standby power. Standard LLC controllers are not great for transient response, but this part uses hybrid hysteretic control for improved transient response.
EVM designs are located in the product folder for each device on ti.com. Most of them can also be ordered from Digikey.
    Thanks

  • Hello Joe,

As far as PFC, UCC28070 might work. ( side effect is, it require current transformer).

As far as main DC-DC converter, I can not use LLC, since I need to have a SYNC between Power Supply and Load (Switching Freq. should be SYNCed).

I am looking for a Full bridge (first) if not half bridge topology with SYNC-pin. Do you have any suggestion?

    Thanks
    Shahriar
  • Hi SHAHRIAR MOHAMMADI,
I suggest you look at UCC28951. This is a phase shifted full bridge controller and includes a SYNCH function.
For lead time and quotation please contact your local sales office. This type of information is not available from E2E.
    Thanks
