TPS65160A: The buck of TPS65160A hadn't been used in my design, please help check how the PIN15、PIN17、PIN18 handle it, flotating or pull GND

Part Number: TPS65160A

Dear sir,

The buck of TPS65160A hadn't been used in my design, please help check how the PIN15、PIN17、PIN18 handle it, flotating or pull GND?

PS:We need to series 2.7K resistors between pin 15(FBB)) and pin18(SWB),or there have some PCBA will cann't work normally

Thanks a lot

  • Hello Hope Chen,

Thanks for your request. What are the electrical requirements for your application such as VI, AVDD, VGH, VGL and output currents?

    Best Regards.
    Ilona
  • Dear Ilona,

          Electrical requirements: VIN:12V; VGH:16v/20mA VGL:-6.8V/30mA  VS:15v/1A  VLOGIC:NC. The sch is as below

I had checked the Power-On Sequencing Using EN1 and EN2. Please help confim the VS/VGH and VS cann't ouput when the VLOGIC is NC.

Please help give some advice  about the design when we won't use the Buck(the VLOGIC)

  • Hello Hope,

You are right, the part will not start up if there is nothing connected on FBB. It is waiting until the buck converter is in power good before the other voltages are allowed to start.

Please check if the board starts when you apply 1.5V from a power supply to FBB. If this works, a resistor divider from VIN could generate this voltage.

In your first post you mention the following:
PS:We need to series 2.7K resistors between pin 15(FBB)) and pin18(SWB),or there have some PCBA will cann't work normally
This is not allowed. SWB is going up to the input voltage, but FBB pin does not allow higher voltages than 5V.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
  • hi Brigitte,
Thanks for your great support. we had sloved the issue
