TPS40210 24Vin ... +215Vout unstable

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40210, SWITCHERPRO

Hi there,

well i encounter some problems regarding a TPS40210 boost converter design:

I can manage to generate 215 Vout at 24Vin using the mentioned device, but i get a heavy ripple of >2 Vpp at quite unusual low-freq. of about 28 Hz.... Actually i have no idea where this comes from... The switcher operates at about 300 kHz. The "Ripple" is even hearable as a humming sound... I tried different coils... no change...

Do you have any idea out there? Thank you!

Here is the corresponding schematic from SwitcherPro that i implemented (version 3.14.0.10):

It should be capable of delivering up to 120 mA output current dc.

  • luckily problem solved... the current sense resistor (R11) was shorted.... Now I have 215V out and a pi output filter with 2* 25 uF (several smaller ones in parallel) and 100 mH choke.

btw.: Is it possible to turn the schematic with this tps 40210 into a flyback with an impulse transformer and isolated feedback to get the output voltage isolated from the input?

    best regards,

    peter

  • Hi, I'm trying to build something similar, but with 12V input, I've a question: why did you blocked the FB components values???
The problem I'm having is that the recommended Soft start capacitor never starts, I had to set one a lot smaller, now I have a 100v output, but it should be 200v,
    Thanks
