Hello
I simulated LMR14050 under Vin=3 ~ 36V, Vout=5V, Iout=4.2A, Ta=-30℃, 80℃.
But when Ta is 80℃, this device couldn't simulate.
Can it behave above the condition?
Please let me know recommending operating range of the Ta.
Best regards,
Yokota

Hi Yokota-san,
Do you have any report from the webench design or maybe some webench design parameters that i could use so that i could forward this to our webench team?
Thanks

Hi Yokota-san,
I just ran your design on Webench. I received the same warning when using exactly the same condition as yours. If you click the green button in the warning, it shows you why the simulation was stopped. In this case, it was because at min Vin = 6V, frequency dropped too low (to 50kHz) at hot and simulation considered the selected BOM not suited for 50k operation.
The BOM should be fine at 6V input voltage. Although the frequency is very low, the inductor current ripple and output voltage ripple will be very small since Vin to Vout difference is very small.
If you change the Vin range to 7V ~ 35V, the simulation will be ok.

Hi Yokota,
Dropout depends on the frequency, integrated FET Rdson, inductor Rdson and PCB trace resistance. Below is the dropout curve on our EVM. This is tested at room temperature. The dropout will be a little larger at 85C due to higher FET Rdson.
So what's ctm's requirement? The Vout must be maintained at exact 5V or a little voltage drop is acceptable at Vin=6V, Iout=4.2A.

Hi Luke-san
My customer requires operation guarantee under Vin=6~35V, Vout=5V, Iout=4.2A, Ta=-30~80℃.
But he doesn't require exact Vout.
