Hello!

I use a DC/DC Converter TPS61222 in my project powered by AAA batteries 1.5 V. What kind of power schemes it is better to use and why?

    it depend on the application detail.
    the first solution benefits true shutdown, and no voltage in the VOUT, so the shutdown current should be zero. but it is not easy to drive the power switch ON/OFF and the efficiency would be a little lower when the boost works

    in the second solution, there would be approx. 1V at VOUT ( VIN=1.5) even when the device is shutdown, so the shutdown current would be a little higher, depend on the load connected to the VOUT. and this solution benefits easy control and higher efficiency.
