WEBENCH® Tools/LM5175: Alternate Power Inductor Selection from Reference Design

Part Number: LM5175

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I am working off a reference design for a Buck/Boost converter, based on the LM5175:

In: 10 - 14 V

Out: 12 V, 8 A

The reference design (schematic) specifies the following Power Inductor:

Coilcraft XAL6030-102MEB: 1.0 uH, 5.62-6.18 mΩ DCR, 50 MHz SRF, 23 A Isat, package size 6.56 x 6.36 mm

However, Digikey doesn't carry this so I'd like to use the following alternate:

Panasonic ETQ-P4M1R0KVK : 1.0 uH, 4.07 mΩ DCR (max), 24.4 A Isat, package size 8.5 x 8.0 mm.

Does this seem like a suitable alternate? If not, which rating(s) are problems?

Thanks,

Jim

  • It looks good. Inductance, Isat, DCR and maximum operating temperature are the main parameters need to be considered for expected electrical performance. Size may affect the layout but there should be ways to accommodate the inductor.
