TPS65250 and dying gasp circuitry

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65251, TPS65250

If i don't want to use the dying gasp functionnality, is it possible to simply left the pins 33, 31, 32, 34 and 35 unconnected ?

  • Ludovic, please use TPS65251 if you do not want to use the Dying Gasp functionality. It is a better suited part for you.

  • My customer has the same question. Although the TPS65251 would be good for him, they are already using the TPS65250 in other applications so would prefer to use the '250 to avoid adding another part to their system and keep the volume on the '250 higher to maximize pricing leverage.

Please tell me if the Pump and Dump circuit can just be left open. If any connections are needed, please identify the components that would also be needed. For instanace, if VINdg needs to be connected, do we also need the 10uF cap on LDOdg? Ideally, they would perer to leave pins 33 (VINdg), 31 (GASP), 32 (LDOdg), 34 (STRG), and 35 (BSTdg) open and unconnected on their PCB.

    Thanks.

  • To use the TPS65250 in a TPS65251  application the following changes are required

    PIN

    Tps65250

    Tps65251

    31

    GND

    GND

    32

    Vin

    Vin

    33

    Vin

    Vin

    34

    Vin

    Vin

    35

    Open

    GND

Pins 32 to 34 (VIN) requires a single 10uF decoupling capacitor to GND.  To have a layout that fits either part, fit a 0603 resistor from pin 35 to GND.  DNF If tps65250 is used  .   0 if TPS65251 is used

  • Hi

That is correct but if customer no need pump-dump function, please try TPS65251 that is only support 3 bucks.

  • Hi all,

I want to use only one Buck and that too BUCK 3 with GASP mode, so can i left all the circuitry for Buck-1 and Buck-2 unconnected?Example (Compensation circuit pin COMP1,COMP2,soft start Pin SS1,SS2,Feedback PIN FB1,FB2,output pins and the current limiting pin-RLIM1,RLIM-2.)

    Early response will be appriciated

Thank you very much in Advance.

    Best Regards,
