About pmic tps659037 backup registers usage

When looking in tps659037 register maps document

http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sliu015/sliu015.pdf

at page 35, there are the "FUNC_BACKUP Registers". Can these 8 registers being considered as ram registers, i.e. they are not subject to any wear issues (not saved in flash/eeprom memory), and can be written as often as needed by the host processor if desired?

  • Martin,

You are correct, they can be rewritten repeatedly by the host processor and they're saved in volatile storage. The value of the registers will be maintained as long as the PMIC supply voltage is higher than the POR threshold. The maximum POR falling threshold is 2.1V. Once POR happens, the registers will be reset.
