[TPS659037] OFF Request

Guru 24520 points

Hi TI Experts,

Please let me confirm the following question.

[Question]

When the POWERHOLD pin is pull-up, can customer generate the "OFF Request" by pushing the PWRON pin?

Best regards.

Kaka

  • Hello Kaka,

PWRON can generate an OFF request if it is held low (Long Key Press) even if POWERHOLD is high. But as soon as PWRON is released high, because POWERHOLD is high it will generate another ON request.

    Regards,
    Karl
  • Hi Karl,

    Thank you for your response.
Please let me confirm my understanding just in case.
    1. PWRON signal can generate the OFF request even thought POWERHOLD is High.
    2. PMIC will reboot after off request generating if powerhold pin is High.

    Is my understanding correct?
    Best regards.

  • Hi Kaka,

    1. PWRON signal can generate the OFF request even thought POWERHOLD is High.
[Karl] Correct, but only if PWRON is held low for longer than the time configured in LONG_PRESS_KEY.LPK_TIME register (default 12 seconds). A short pulse of PWRON will not shut of the PMIC off.

    2. PMIC will reboot after off request generating if powerhold pin is High.
[Karl] Correct. The PMIC will remain off as long as PWRON is held low. Once released high, POWERHOLD high will enable the PMIC again.

    Karl
