TPS65311-Q1: Asserted time of the NRES pin

Part Number: TPS65311-Q1

Hi,

My customer is considering fail/safe.

And they would like to know the time(min/typ/max) from reset condition until asserted the NRES pin.

(And they hope that the time is guaranteed...)

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hello Kuramochi-san,

I've assigned this to the appropriate applications engineer, he will respond to your question.

  • Hello Kuramochi-san,

Are you looking for below specification in the datasheet? Like this, there are blanking time mentioned for other reset conditions as well.

It is mostly digital specifications and covered using device SCAN test.

Exactly testing this on EVM is bit difficult as detection threshold has some variation (+/-4%+ external resistor tolerances) and it is bit difficult to say when exactly device detected the UV/OV condition.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello Kuramochi-san,

Looks like there was some issue with the datasheet snapshot i made in my previous reply. I was referring to the below specification in the datasheet.

VOLTAGE MONITORS BUCK1/2/3, VIO, LDO, BOOSTER
tVMON_BLK Blanking time between UV/OV condition to RESN low UV/OV: BUCK1/2/3 UV: VIO 10 20 μs

  • Hi Murthy-san,
(I changed my name from kuramochi)

Does "tVMON_BLK" include the case of WD_RESET?

    Best Regards,
    Kuramochi
  • Hello Kuramochi-san,

I didn't understand your statement : (I changed my name from kuramochi). If i had made some mistake in writing your name, i am very sorry.

In case of WD, it is bit different because of the large WD window time. Whenever WD pulse is missed, device waits until "Watchdog window time (typ=20ms)" is completed and if it does not detect the pulse within this period of time, RESN is pulled down. compared to this large time, filter time of 10-20us is negligible. So, I would advise you to take this value as worst case 22.02ms without SS enabled.

I will send you some plots to your email address.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Murthy
