TPS65910: VDD2 voltage too high

Part Number: TPS65910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Dear Experts,

I'm working on a design where TPS65910 is used to power AM3352. Smart reflex is used.

When TPS65910 starts up, voltage of VDD2 is 1.1V. After ~10s voltage changes to ~1.15V. Is this change in output voltage caused by smart reflex? There is a mention in errata that DC/DC output can go higher than programmed value. Is it possible that this has something to do with that?

Thanks!

Rgds,

Juha

  • Hello Juha,

You can confirm the programmed voltage by reading the VDD2_OP_REG and VDD2_SR_REG registers. VDD2_OP_REG[7] determines which of the registers sets the output voltage. Then the "SEL" field of that register will control the output voltage.

The overvoltage errata for TPS65910 is only a transient overvoltage, so it doesn't sound like the behavior you described. I believe the processor is setting the output voltage to 1.15V through I2C, likely because of SmartReflex or similar. I would recommend reading out those registers after the voltage changes, and see if the values have been set to 1.15V.
