Hi!

I have use in my design a QuadPort PSE TPS23841. I can get by I2C bus value of Voltage and Current, but temperature always value 0. Bit "Temperature measurement complete" is 1, that mean A/D has completed a temperature measurement.

How can i get non zero value of temperature?

I am able to get real temperature samples if the MS pin is HIGH (PMM). In AM (MS=0) I cannot get a value of other than 0x80 from the Temp Upper, Temp Lower A/D register. I am checking with design about this.

It is confirmed that in auto mode (MS=0) the temperature sample function is not active but only voltage and current. Please see the figure 1 auto-mode flow chart (no temperature sample included) and page 16 text.

After power has been applied to the PD the TPS2384 automatically enters the current and voltage sample mode. The sample mode performs 31 current measurements and 1 voltage measurement. Each measurement takes approximately 18 ms to complete. The port remains powered and the current/voltage measurement cycle continues until a fault condition occurs. The current and voltage measurements are both stored in the A/D current and voltage registers and can be accessed through the I2 C pins. This allows power management in the AM if it is desired.

I actually got the same problem. Is there no way to trigger a temperature measurement in AM?

Does this also mean, that there is no temperature protection in AM?

The temperature measurement function is not available in auto-mode but per port temperature protection is active in all modes.
